Hon. Ann Hunter Simpson (Ret.), Emeritus

Judge Simpson served as a Circuit Court Judge for the 15th Circuit, sitting as the resident Judge for Spotsylvania.  She also served on the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court for 4 years, preceded by experience as a substitute District Court Judge.  An innovator on the bench, Judge Simpson was a co-founder of the Rappahannock Regional Drug Treatment Court, one of the earliest Virginia programs to address substance abuse in the criminal justice system.  She also initiated court-sponsored mediation programs in Spotsylvania and Stafford.  Judge Simpson also was one of the first retired Judges to participate in the Judicial Settlement Program and she was a founding member of JS.  Prior to her judicial service, Judge Simpson practiced civil law for 19 years, concentrating on family law, land use and zoning, commercial construction and estate matters.  She gained experience with local government law as an Assistant City Attorney for Newport News.  Judge Simpson enjoys travel and is a frequent lecturer at educational programs in Cambridge, England. Judge Simpson retired from Juridical Solutions in 2018.
