Judge Humes J. Franklin, Jr., Ret.

franklinJudge Franklin (retired) is a graduate of Wittenburg University and University of Virginia School of Law.  Prior to his appointment to the bench he practiced law for 30 years in the western part of Virginia in the areas of civil, criminal, personal injury and domestic relations.

Judge Franklin retired from the 25th Circuit in December, 2012, sitting in the Cities of Staunton and Waynesboro and the Counties of Highland and Bath for 15 years.  During his tenure he served as Chief Judge of the 25th Circuit and Chief Judge of Region 6.

He was instrumental in the establishment of Drug Court in the City of Staunton in 2002.  Judge Franklin served on the Executive and Education Committees of the Supreme Court.

He resides in Augusta County with his wife, Barbara and is the father of a son and daughter. 

Judge Franklin is willing to provide all types of mediation services in Southwest Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley and Piedmont region of Virginia.
