Judge Aundria D. Foster, Ret.

aundria_d_foster_copyJudge Foster retired March 31, 2011, with over 19 years of experience as a Judge in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

In 2004, Judge Foster was elected to the 7th Judicial Circuit of Virginia, the Circuit Court for the City of Newport News, where she presided over numerous contract, domestic relations, medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability, (including asbestos cases), wills, trusts, real estate, commercial and construction cases. She served as Chief Judge for the 7th Judicial Circuit from 2008 to 2010.

Judge Foster was appointed to the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court in 1991and during her tenure served a term as Chief Judge. During her service in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, Judge Foster led the team of professionals that established the Juvenile Drug Treatment Court, and the Family Drug Treatment Court. 

From 1984 until going on the Bench, Judge Foster was an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Newport News. She acquired extensive litigation experience in jury and nonjury trials. She prosecuted a variety of criminal cases including capital murder, rape, robbery, domestic violence and other serious crimes.

Prior to her service in the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, Judge Foster was an attorney with Peninsula Legal Aid Center where she had an active civil law practice that included domestic relations, employment law, consumer law, Social Security, public benefits, wills and powers of attorney, Virginia landlord-tenant, and Federal housing law and Regulations.

Judge Foster practiced before Federal and State courts and various Regulatory Agencies. 

Judge Foster is a graduate of The College of William and Mary, Marshall-Wythe School of Law where she received her law degree in 1982.

Judge Foster promoted and facilitated the use of meditation in both the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, and the Circuit Court.

Judge Foster will provide all types of mediation and alternative dispute resolution services in the Richmond and Hampton Roads areas.
